About a year ago, I got a KILLABEE gaming chair off of Craig’s List. I was planning on buying a new one but got this one at a great deal so went with a “gently used” gaming chair.
Just like many (MANY) people, I’m working more from home now. My gaming area is now also my home office. So my chair has seen a lot more of me. A lot more. So much that a few of the wheels were gently trying to tell me to lose more weight and feel free to use the laptop more… and then ungently told me by two of them popping apart.
I started looking around for a replacement and noticed a few sites recommending that instead of replacing them with caster wheels (the normal kind), that I should look at rollerblade wheels that work with office chairs. Not only would they be quieter, less likely to clog with animal hair (and with two cats and a dog… yeah, animal hair is a factor here), and should roll smoother across the floor (I don’t have carpeting).
I figured what the hell and saw a decent pair on Amazon by OPTTICO for around $35 with a good user rating and ended up purchasing them yesterday. They came in around noon today so threw them on.
It’s only been a few hours but already, I like them a lot more than the original wheels. My chair glides across the floor, the wheels are much quieter, and it feels just as sturdy. We’ll see if they make it for the long haul but so far, so great!
So if you’ve got some bad caster wheels on your chair, you might want to look into the rollerblade style wheels.
