If you’re don’t watch anime, you may wish to move on. While not a hardcore anime fan, there are a few shows I do enjoy. One of them was Log Horizon, an anime that is in the “trapped in a video game” subgenre. I imagine part of that is because I am still a gamer and due to my previous life in online game development.
Log Horizon is it is about a MMORPG called “Elder Tale” and somehow the release of its 12th expansion pack, members who were logged on at the time, were transported into something that looked like the virtual game world as their in-game avatars. It goes deeper than that, but that’s the quick version.
The anime version of Log Horizon (it is based off of a Manga novel series) was first aired in late 2013 and the second season ended early to mid 2015. Considering it’s been over 5 years since then, no one was really anticipating a third season… at least I wasn’t.
So I was a little shocked when this video popped into my YouTube feed:
Yes, yes, the video was posted back in late January (of this year) so this is old news for many. But it was news to be so figured there may be more of you who enjoyed the show and didn’t know either.
To be on the safe side, I went and checked out the official site (because, we all know, internet rumors are not always true). If you don’t read Japanese (I surely do not), here’s the translated version of their webpage.
Based on that, we may be starting to see the third season start in October 2020 and, based on the title, sounds like things may be a bit challenging for the members of the Round Table Council.
Now if only I could get an update on where season 2 of Quanzhi Gaoshou (aka The King’s Avatar) donghu (aka Chinese animation) is…
